Music Reading For Beginner Guitarists

There is something common between you and me. Just like you, when I was a beginner I was fascinated and obsessed with the idea of reading music and playing it on guitar simultaneously. But unfortunately I didn't have a teacher or anybody to guide me about whether it's right for me to begin with reading standard notations on guitar or not. So I ended up making a lot of mistakes and today I am going to teach you how not to make these mistakes.

Watch the below video to make sure that you don’t end up making the same mistakes as I did and in the process also learn the best way for you to read music as a beginner guitarist.

You’ll also learn how to read guitar tablature, and learn a live piece of music that you can play and get started with reading music on guitar.

So remember the things that you learnt from the video and here's what you need to do:

  1. Do not make the mistake of learning to read standard notations on guitar as a beginner, unless that's what you aspire to do in the long term

  2. Learn to read Guitar TAB instead and get started right away by learning the piece taught in the video.

  3. Download the lesson materials for the song from here and start learning the piece, one bar/measure at a time

  4. Once you have learnt it and you can play it at a slow speed, without breaking in between, practice it with the play along tracks at different speeds

  5. Have fun playing your favourite songs using guitar TAB and spend at least 10 minutes a day working on improving your ability to read music from guitar TAB
